Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Do you accept NHS Vouchers?

Yes, in fact our spectacles are such good value that the voucher may even cover the whole cost.  Your optometrist will issue you with your voucher during your eye test, bring it with you when you come to us to purchase your spectacles from us and we deduct the voucher value from the purchase cost

2. Do you sell varifocal lenses?

Yes indeed. We sell branded and unbranded lenses. Take a look at our products & prices page or come in to see us, if your lenses are listed we can almost certainly still supply you with your lenses.  Alternatively, call us on 01493 844984 and we will be happy to give you a quotation based on your requirements.

3. How long do I have to wait for my new glasses?

If we have your lenses available from stock it is possible that we may be able to make your glasses in a shorter time but as a guidance:-

Single vision glasses 1-2 days if the lenses are NOT in stock

Some glasses can be made in an hour

Bifocals and varifocals approximately 1 week.

4. What does DISPENSING ONLY opticians mean?

This means we we only specialise in the supply and fitting of prescription glasses.  We do not carry out eye tests, you optometrist will need to do this and issue you with your prescription.  This contains all the information we need to make your glasses.  Bring your current prescription with you, all you have to do is then choose your lenses and frames from our huge selection.

5. Does my prescription ever expire?

Yes and this is quite important especially to people with a family history of glaucoma or diabetes.  Most peoples eyes need to be tested every couple of years to see if there has been any change, however if you have family history with these conditions your eyes require an annual retest this is shown on your prescription.  We are therefore unable to make your glasses if your prescription is older than two years and for those on an annual retest, we are unable to make the glasses if the prescription is older than one year.

6. What guarantees do you offer?

All of our glasses have a 1 year manufacturers warranty on frames and lenses.  However if you ever have any issues with your glasses please simply bring them back to us and we will try to resolve any problem or advise on the best course of action to take.

7. Are you able to make my varifocals or bifocals while I wait?

Unfortunately due to the nature of these they have to be custom made to your prescription, we of course will do anything we possibly can in cases of urgency.

8. Do you supply branded frames and lenses?

Yes, we currently stock a large range of frames from Prada, Armani, D&G, Jaeger, X-Eyes, Police, Playboy, Bench and Hooch.  Obviously is not possible to stock every model and colour available.  If you do have a specific frame choice simply note down the model number and we will check availability.  Chances are we already have the frame in stock however if it isn't we can normally have the specific frame choice delivered to us within a week.  We also offer most branded lenses in various materials and coatings.

9. Is it possible to use my contact lens prescription to make glasses?

Unfortunately no. Contact lens prescriptions are very different from the prescriptions used to make up glasses. A contact lens prescription does not give us enough information to make up glasses.
